St. Nektarios of Aegina Eastern Orthodox Saint / Wonderworker of Aegina. He is Celebrated on November 9th  being his death date.

St. Nektarios is considered the Patron Saint for people who have cancer, heart trouble, arthritis, epilepsy and other sicknesses.

St. Nektarios was born in 1846 in Selvyria, Thrace. From his youth he felt the calling to be a priest. St. Nektarios was persecuted by the hierarchy of his church, his popularity evoked envy in higher officials, The beloved bishop was removed from office in 1890 without an explanation or trial procedure. Without seeking to avenge or even to defend himself, he went on and founded the Convent of the Holy Trinity in Aegina. It was here at his convent that Nektarios would make his greatest contributions to the Orthodox Church, people flocked to Aegina to worship with the bishop, to listen to his sermons, and to be healed from different illnesses.

The most noted miracle he is famously known for came soon after his death when a nurse came to prepare his body for its transfer to Aegina for burial. When the nurse removed the sweater St Nektarios had been wearing, she placed it on the bed next to his, which was occupied by a paralytic. As soon as the sweater touched the bed the paralytic immediately regained his strength and stood up.

St Nektarios is a true icon of Christian love and patience. We are all called to love all people and to encourage them. Thousands of pilgrims visit The Holy Trinity in Aegina each year for people seeking help and a miracle for illness.
