Melts are a great alternative to candles, you can us these in a candle lit burner or an electric burner.
You put them where you would normally place water and oil, these will melt and liquify and give off the scent, and when they cool down they solidify again until your next use.
Always handle with care and never leave burning candles or burners unattended.
