His regime of prayer and asceticism left him with only two or three hours each night for rest.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e He would say that God is greatly touched when someone who is in great suffering does not complain, but rather uses his energy to pray for others.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn 1977, Saint Paisios visited Australia with Father Vasileios of the Monastery of Iviron. Saint Paisios performed a miracle and treated a cancer patient while he was in Australia.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOn September 25 2023,\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eArchbishop Makarios of Australia declared Saint Paisios the Guardian and Protector of Australia and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe candles are lit as a form of prayer, meditation, or devotion, and they are used to symbolize the presence of Jesus Christ.
